ROGER MILLIKEN WINS ICON OF INDUSTRY AWARD
New York (November 10, 2008) — Roger Milliken, Chairman of Milliken and Company, was honored with the Icon of Industry Award at the Gold Key Award Breakfast this morning for his leadership in the hospitality industry. The Icon of Industry Award is presented annually to a deserving leader in hospitality. The candidates for the award have been involved in the hospitality industry for a minimum of 30 years, contributed to the community or industry through education or corporate giving, and impacted the industry through innovative technology and design.
The Network of the Hospitality Industry, NEWH, is the premier networking resource for the hospitality industry, providing scholarships, education, leadership development, recognition of excellence, and business development opportunities. The Icon of Industry Award is considered their most prestigious award.
A $5,000 scholarship will be awarded in Milliken’s name to Jackie Livelli from Savannah, Ga. Livelli has been an exemplary student and has completed over half of her program toward a degree in the hospitality industry, has above a 3.0 GPA, participated in an industry internship, and exemplified the highest standards of professionalism and scholarship.
